Add to Calendar – Another new feature!

by Lucy on March 7, 2011

A hotly demanded feature “Add to Calendar” is live today on Be In The Room.

If you find an event you like, hit the “Add to Calendar” button and the event will be added to your iCal.

Woohoo!  As you know, the team are passionately from Australia and New Zealand and we love what is going on in the digital industry here downunder.

We started Be In The Room as we felt there was a need for a one stop place to find information on events focused on all the things we love: startups, web, social media, technology, design and social good.

Today we have added “Event Hotspots” so you can easily see by location, what events have recently been added, are coming up, have happened or are on right now. We know that a lot of you are pretty mobile across the tasman when something good is on, so you may want to keep an eye on a few regions. I’ll take any excuse for a flight Sydney to Wellington or Auckland!

For now we are focusing on these areas:

Australia
- Sydney
-Melbourne
-Brisbane
-Canberra
-Perth

New Zealand
- Auckland
-Wellington

If you would like to see another region added, either in Australia or New Zealand, or somewhere else in the world where great things are going on in the digital industry, let us know.

Some things I want to remember from the Young Entrepreneurs Unconvention (#yeu) – #1

September 20, 2010

As promised, here are some things I want to remember from the Young Entrepreneurs Unconvention I went to on Saturday and talked about here. First up, Andrew Morello’s presentation. This was very powerful when delivered from this absolute force of a person, the words might not do the messages justice, but are too good not [...]

Why do people go to events?

September 8, 2010

I ran a quick poll the other day to get an idea of what motivates people to get along to events. The two top reasons were case studies/real life examples and to pollinate new ideas & get inspired. One thing I always notice and enjoy about conferences in the digital industry is that there is [...]

Define: Hashtag

September 1, 2010

I logged onto Oxford Dictionary online before and was met with the message: “If you don’t know a hashtag from a hutong, find definitions for these words and over a thousand other new terms on our updated site.” I know things don’t need to be the Oxford Dictionary to exist, but sure shows times they [...]

Google Wave: Was it the Psychology or the technology?

August 5, 2010

Google said yesterday that despite their internal enthusiasm for Google Wave, great learnings from the product and some loyal fans, the product has not had high enough levels of user adoption and will not be developed further. This isn’t a “I told you” so type post, I’m over all the cheesy blog headlines a la “Google waves [...]
